About this app

NetGalley Shelf is a reading and listening app for NetGalley members. NetGalley helps publishers and authors promote digital review copies and audiobooks to book advocates and industry professionals. Publishers make digital review copies and audiobooks available for the NetGalley community to discover, request, read, and review.

NetGalley does not sell any content, including books or audiobooks. Each book on NetGalley is provided to specific members by the publisher directly, at no cost to the NetGalley member. Books on the NetGalley site are used for review and promotional purposes only.

Users of the NetGalley Shelf app will need to register as NetGalley members on NetGalley.com or NetGalley.co.uk, then all your approved NetGalley books and audiobooks will automatically appear in this app. No need to press Download on the NetGalley website!

Reading is easy and convenient using the NetGalley Shelf app. Download approved books for access on the go, or start listening right away with streaming for audiobooks.

I like the app. But i have audiobook issues. I listen to multiple devices. My progress is not streamlined between devices. Also, if I get a new device, anything that has been published does not transfer in my account. So I lose those Audiobooks. Which is heartbreaking because some I would like to listen to again. Please fix these issues!

This app works OK for eBook ARCs but sucks for audiobooks. I have several issues with it. First, the controls for the app won't stay on my lock screen so I have to unlock my phone almost every time I wanted to resume playback. I have adjusted my "media player" settings in the OS to allow the Shelf app to show up on the lock screen and to send me notifications while locked; it didn't help. Second, the chapters are just the title of the book repeated over & over: So, if I want to go back to listen to a particular chapter, I have to guess which one it is. Third, I'd prefer to be able to change the progress bar to show me the progress for the entire book rather than the chapter: it only shows me how long is left in each chapter as I go through. I'd love to be able to check to see how long is left in the book. Also, in a related issue, the back button will only take you back as far as the beginning of the chapter you're in. So, when I missed a bit of dialogue at the end of a chapter, I hit the back arrow to go back to the end of the previous chapter, it wouldn't do it: it just kept taking back to the beginning of the chapter I was in. It was very annoying. Reading the ebooks using the Shelf app works fine on Apple iOS and Android. But it isn't available for Windows. Instead, you have to download the secure PDF and use Adobe Digital Editions. Unfortunately, that app refuses to scroll smoothly. Thankfully, I haven't run into too many ARCs from NetGalley that can't be downloaded to Kindle. Is it possible to get a Windows version of the Shelf app??

Listening to audiobooks is impossible. My screen shuts off and less than a minute later the audioboon shuts off. I even tried turning on my always on display to see if that helps, and nope. Pretty awful trying to listen to an audiobook and either have to keep unlocked and starting it again, or keep tapping my screen every few second to keep it awake.
