🧠 WHY THIS ONE
Every number carries its citation, and you can read it without leaving the app.
And it carries something you will not find anywhere else: the uncertainty. The published 95% range for infant acuity is about a factor of four wide at every age — wider than the change between any two adjacent months. Almost every app and article gives a single number and never mentions it.
"Newborns see only black and white" and "babies see 8 to 12 inches" are the two things everyone repeats about this. Both are cruder than the literature, and you will see why.

This is not a vision or hearing test. It never measures, scores or assesses your baby — it describes what published research says about babies in general. If anything worries you, speak to your paediatrician or a paediatric eye doctor.
It is also not a reconstruction of what your baby sees. Nobody can produce that. It is a perceptual approximation with its limits stated: a screen cannot reach the light levels involved, and depth perception from two eyes cannot be shown on a flat screen at all — so the app explains that one instead of drawing it.
