FlipToMute is a simple and secure app that prioritizes user privacy.
📱 What Does the App Do?
FlipToMute detects the physical orientation of your phone.
When the phone is placed face down, incoming calls and notifications are silenced
When the phone is turned face up, the previous sound mode is automatically restored
All actions happen automatically in the background.
🔑 Required Permissions and Their Purpose
Accessibility Service
Used only to detect whether the device is placed face down or face up.
This permission allows FlipToMute to run reliably in the background.
Do Not Disturb (DND) Permission
Used only to silence incoming calls and notifications.
These permissions are required solely to provide the core functionality of the app.
🚫 What FlipToMute Does NOT Do
FlipToMute does NOT:
Read screen content
Track user behavior or interactions
Monitor other apps
Record keystrokes
Collect, store, or share personal data
Require an internet connection
🛡️ Data Processing & Privacy
No personal data is collected
All processing happens entirely on the device
No data is shared with third parties
FlipToMute fully complies with Google Play privacy and data safety requirements.
⚠️ Important Information for Android 10 & 11 Users
On devices running Android 10 or Android 11, if the app is fully closed from the recent apps screen, the Accessibility Service may temporarily stop.
If this happens:
Simply lock and unlock your phone, and FlipToMute will automatically become active again
Or open the app and tap Enable to restart the service
On Android 12 and above, the system handles the service more reliably and this action is usually not required.
🔕 How to Disable or Stop FlipToMute
FlipToMute works only while its Accessibility permission is enabled.
To completely stop the app:
Open System Settings
Go to Accessibility
Find FlipToMute
Turn Accessibility permission OFF
Once Accessibility is disabled:
FlipToMute will immediately stop working
No background activity will continue
No sound or notification changes will occur
You can re-enable the app at any time by turning the Accessibility permission back on.
