Your child is going to ask to do math homework. We promise.
Number Chef is the cooking-themed math adventure where children combine numbered ingredients to hit a recipe target - before the timer runs
out. Guided every step of the way by Chef Zuri, a warm and encouraging
animated chef who speaks directly to your child, teaches the lesson behind
every challenge, and celebrates every win out loud.
This is not a flashcard app. This is a real game.
========================
HOW IT WORKS
A recipe card appears showing a target number - say, 12. On the kitchen
counter are numbered ingredient cards: a 3, 4, 8 and 5. Your child
picks the right ingredients, chooses an operator (+, x, —), and taps
"Cook It!" to see if the recipe works.
Here is the twist: every ingredient has a freshness timer ticking down
beneath it. Leave an ingredient too long and it spoils - it shakes, goes
grey, and disappears from the kitchen. Children must work quickly AND
think carefully, choosing which ingredients to use before they go bad.
This dual-timer challenge builds mental arithmetic AND prioritisation
under pressure - two skills that transfer directly to classroom tests
and everyday problem solving.

MEET CHEF ZURI
Chef Zuri is Number Chef's heart. This cheerful animated chef lives on
every screen, reacting to every moment of the game with genuine
expressions and animations.
When your child gets an answer right, Zuri jumps for joy and cheers
through the speaker. When they get it wrong, Zuri shakes her head gently
and says, "Every great chef makes mistakes - try once more!" When an
ingredient is about to spoil, Zuri calls out a warning: "Quick! That one
is going bad!"
After every chapter, Zuri sits your child down for a short spoken lesson -
delivered out loud through the speaker AND displayed on screen at the same
time. She explains the math concept behind the chapter in plain, kind
language a 7-year-old can fully understand.
Chef Zuri does not lecture. She coaches.
========================
10 CHAPTERS. REAL PROGRESSION.
Number Chef is built on a research-aligned curriculum that introduces
operations in the same order used in primary school classrooms:
Chapter 1to 3 Addition only. Small grids. Gentle timers. Perfect for beginners.
Chapter 4 to 6 Addition + Subtraction. Bigger grids. More ingredients.
Chapter 7 to 10 Multiplication introduced. Faster timers. Complex targets.
Each chapter contains 5 rounds. Complete 4 out of 5 to unlock the next
chapter and hear Zuri's lesson. Progress is saved automatically - your
child can pick up exactly where they left off.

A NOTE FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS
Number Chef was designed to complement classroom learning, not replace it.
The 10-chapter structure mirrors the standard primary school progression
from counting and addition through to multiplication. Chef Zuri's spoken
lesson at the end of each chapter reinforces what was just practised in
plain language - making the game genuinely useful as a learning tool, not
just an entertainment distraction.
The recipe timer was designed deliberately to build time-awareness
and decision-making under mild pressure - skills that primary school
teachers consistently identify as underdeveloped in students who otherwise
understand the arithmetic.
Number Chef is free and requires no subscription.
Because every child deserves access to quality learning tools.
