About this app

To follow a healthy diet it is necessary to eat in a varied and balanced way, with a correct intake of all food groups, each in the right quantities. The National Guidelines for a Healthy and Correct Nutrition suggest the correct portions for each type of food, following the principles of the Mediterranean Diet. To help you follow a healthy, varied and balanced diet every day, this app offers you two tools.

The first is the NutrInform Battery label of each food. This label provides the nutritional information of each food in a clear and transparent way, also indicating the portion suggested by nutritionists. Just photograph the EAN code on the back of each packaged food to have all its nutritional information (calories, salt, sugars and fats) on the screen of your smartphone. The NutrInform Battery informs you of the impact of the portion of each product on the daily diet. And precisely because for good nutrition it is essential to consume each food in the appropriate portions, NutrInform Battery also informs you on the portion that should be consumed, depending on the type of food. We therefore recommend that you follow the suggested portions: this is the secret to following a healthy, varied and balanced diet every day! Of course it is possible to change the quantity in case you consume a greater or lesser quantity than indicated, and you will see how the NutrInform Battery label will give you in real time the information relating to the selected quantity, so as to have a help to be aware of the calories and of the nutrients actually assimilated. The suggested portion is intended to help you not to overdo the consumption of foods, but to balance them correctly throughout the day. But how do you understand the combined effect of the different foods consumed every day?

Here the second tool intervenes: the Batteries of your Daily Diet, present on the main page of the app. Each time you have consumed a food, the data will be collected in the app and accumulated to update the Batteries of your Daily Diet. Checking the Batteries of the Daily Diet will help you vary your diet and avoid excesses, thanks to the specific information on energy and nutrients to control consumption (salt, sugars and fats), as suggested by the World Health Organization . In fact, when the Daily Diet Battery for a nutrient is close to full filling, you will know that for the rest of the day you will have to avoid further consuming that nutrient, and move towards different types of foods. Provided, of course, that the energy battery is not completely filled! The suggested values for calories, salt, sugars and fats represent the reference consumption for an average adult, not to be exceeded, suggested by the EFSA (European Food Security Agency) and reported in the Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011 on the supply of food information to consumers.

To make your life easier, in addition to the nutritional data of all packaged products distributed in Italy, the app also presents the nutritional data of over 300 recipes of dishes normally consumed in Italy, avoiding having to enter the nutritional data of all the products by hand. ingredients used for the recipe.

The National Guidelines for a Healthy and Correct Nutrition, the result of the work of qualified experts in the sector, report the portions of the main food groups, based on the Reference Intake Levels of Nutrients and Energy for the Italian population (LARN) developed by the Company Italian Human Nutrition (SINU).
