About this app

OBN's Text Editor is your daily productivity tool to open .txt and other types of text files, CSV, log, subtitle, and code files right from your file manager, turn printed text into editable text with your camera, and keep your notes and to-do lists in one place. Camera to text, translation, and the AI writing assistant all run on your phone, not on a server.

Write and edit:
- A blank page for notes, lists and drafts, with undo and redo.
- Find and replace, with highlighted matches and Replace All.
- English spell check that works offline: typos are underlined in red, and you tap a word for suggestions.
- Line numbers, pinch to zoom, and live word, sentence and paragraph counts.
- To-do helpers: mark a line done or cancelled, then sort the list so open items come first.
- One-tap buttons for punctuation, math and currency symbols, nearly 500 emoji, and quick pickers for Greek, Turkish, Spanish, French, German letters.
- A character panel with special symbols, arrows, icons, and letters from the Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, and Hebrew alphabets.

Open, save and share:
- Choose "Open with" in your file manager or another app to read and edit TXT, CSV, Markdown, JSON, XML, YAML, LOG, INI, SRT and VTT subtitle files, and source code.
- View and edit HTML pages.
- Save to your phone's Documents folder, or pick any folder with Save As. Turn on Auto Save to save every 10 seconds.
- Save files in UTF-8 or ANSI (Windows-1252).
- Export your text as a DOCX document, PNG or JPG images, or a ZIP file.
- Print or save as PDF with Android's print dialog.
- Share to any app, send a .txt file over Bluetooth, or upload a copy to your drive.
- Find your saved notes in the built-in file manager, and your recent files on the home screen.

Smart tools:
- Camera to Text: photograph printed text and edit it as text. Supports Latin-alphabet languages, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, with no internet needed.
- File to Text: pull the text out of images, PDFs (including scanned ones), DOC/DOCX and XLS/XLSX files.
- Translate your note between 59 languages. Each language downloads once, then translation works offline.
- AI writing assistant: download an open-source AI model in the app (from 0.6 GB), ask it to draft text, ask follow-up questions, and insert the answer into your note.

Handy extras:
- Formulas: type shorthand like x^2 or sqrt(x), preview it, and insert it as math text. Includes 9 ready-made templates, and you can save your own.
- Flowchart builder: describe your steps and a yes/no decision in a few lines, then insert a text flowchart into your note.
- Fancy text styles such as bold, italic, script, and bubble letters for bios, captions, and messages (letters A-Z and digits).
- Compare two texts line by line.
- Turn Markdown-style notes into LaTeX code or a complete .tex file.
- Convert text to binary, hex, octal, or decimal, and binary back to text.
- Txt Repair: recover readable text from mislabeled, zipped, or damaged files into a new .txt file.
- A basic calculator that floats over your text. You can move it or minimize it.
- Light or dark theme.
- Your notes are saved on your device.
