Octopus Lang for Android is the companion to Octopus Lang for Mac and Windows — the app that turns films and books you already own into your language course.

Pair once with your desktop and your library comes across directly, device to device, over your own Wi-Fi. Nothing passes through a server. There is no account to create, because there is no cloud: your library moves from your computer to your phone and lives there, readable offline.

WHAT SYNCS TO YOUR PHONE
• Books — the books you imported on your desktop, with every word you've tagged as New or Learning marked as you read
• Media lessons — transcripts of your videos and podcasts, with read-along audio you can download and play line by line
• Vocabulary — every word you've saved, searchable and editable; change a word's status on the phone and it syncs back to the desktop
• Reading progress — pick up on the phone where the desktop left off

TAP ANY WORD
The dictionary sheet shows the reading, meaning and part of speech the moment you touch a word — and one tap marks it New, Learning, Known or Ignored.

JAPANESE, DONE PROPERLY
Download the optional Japanese pack (~25 MB) for offline lookups on every Japanese word, furigana above the kanji, and pitch-accent graphs on your saved words. Downloaded once, kept on your phone.

Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (European and Brazilian), Japanese, English, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Czech, Romanian, Greek, Hungarian, Vietnamese and Indonesian — with Korean and Chinese on the roadmap.

No account. No cloud. No analytics. Your library syncs over your own Wi-Fi and stays on your devices, encrypted end to end. Once synced, the app works fully offline — on the train, on a plane, anywhere.

GOOD TO KNOW
Octopus Lang for Android is a companion app: importing, transcription and Anki export happen on the desktop. Pairing requires the Octopus Lang desktop app (macOS or Windows) with a plan that includes phone sync. Plans are pay-once — no subscription.
