I deleted my account and I decided to log in back later, I discovered that despite deleting my account previously, I was still able to login and also recover all my previous chats, the only difference was that I needed to reverify my photo. Also, I discovered immediately after dropping my phone number, someone was trying to takeover my WhatsApp. So I suspect that they're selling the users data to unscrupulous individuals or using it themselves.
