Olyns is Rethinking Recycling. Our growing network of bottle boxes makes it easy and fun to recycle beverage containers for cash.

Here’s how it works:

1. Download the Olyns App.
2. Create an account and save Olyns to your e-wallet.
3. Find the nearest Olyns bottle box on our map.
4. Hold your phone above the Recycle Ring on the Olyns bottle box for touchless check in.
5. Deposit your empty CRV containers into the Olyns bottle box.
6. Earn cash for every eligible container.
7. Cash Out your balance anytime through PayPal.
8. Celebrate - you just did your part to help the planet

I’m done with Olyns! The cash-out feature broke, so I couldn’t get paid. Machines are often full, out of service, or closed; the glass compartment is perpetually full. The entire point of a self-service kiosk is 24/7 availability, yet Olyns kiosks take off evenings, nights, early mornings, and holidays like fat-cat bankers. The process is painfully slow, taking forever for even small loads. Overall, it’s unreliable, frustrating, and not worth the time—use a local redemption center instead.

If I could give 0 stars I would. App is not great, machines are often either closed (after 8 pm!) or on holiday (why does a machine need a holiday?), or out of service, or completely full. Glass is always full. One time we were able to recycle 4 glass bottles and then that was it. Other than that one time, we have never gotten glass to work. App makes you install Google wallet and makes you link to PayPal. After all that, cash out is not working! Ugh. Just one annoyance after another.

app is basic. cannot search by zip and sort by distance or availability. finding machines with capacity takes too long. glass is often at capacity, machines seem to be rarely or inadequately serviced. also not enough machines to meet demand. machines slow to recognize item type adding to time needed for redemption. nice idea though. hope they figure it out update: still bad. The service is un-usable. In 6 visits to Olyns machines, I've made $2.45.
