Olyns is Rethinking Recycling. Our growing network of bottle boxes makes it easy and fun to recycle beverage containers for cash.

Here’s how it works:

1. Download the Olyns App.
2. Create an account and save Olyns to your e-wallet.
3. Find the nearest Olyns bottle box on our map.
4. Hold your phone above the Recycle Ring on the Olyns bottle box for touchless check in.
5. Deposit your empty CRV containers into the Olyns bottle box.
6. Earn cash for every eligible container.
7. Cash Out your balance anytime through PayPal.
8. Celebrate - you just did your part to help the planet

Ratings and reviews

This app at least on Android sucks! After installed for a while, it worked for a few months, then start getting blank screen after. I have to uninstall then reinstall to get the app working again. Clear cache did not help the situation. If it is connecting to server in the cloud problem, please fix it. If you don't know how to get your mobile app constantly, at least give us an option to log in to see our account through a browser!!!

Software is a net negative in the recycling experience. Adding Paypal and an app makes the whole thing way more complicated than it needs to be (but sure does prevent homeless people from returning cans!). These machines are slower than the manual ones I remember from the East Coast and are prone to freezing.

I'll be not using Olyns from now on. The implementation was done totally wrong. Anyone can just register five accounts and use the whole machine's capacity all at once. You have to drive all the way to wherever the nearest Olyns is that has capacity and hope you don't run into that. And if you bring it up to them, it turns into a "what're you going to do about it" situation. I'll use the local recycling centers instead.
