OMVS Connect is the Community Early Warning System application of the Organization for the Development of the Senegal River Basin (OMVS). It is designed for the populations of the basin—Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal—and has two objectives: to inform you about the river's situation and to allow you to report what you observe in the field.
STAY INFORMED
• Water levels at the river's measuring stations, with historical data and available forecasts.
• Flood map: view the stations, affected areas, and refuge zones.
• Alerts by municipality, with their severity level and evolution.
• Official OMVS press releases.
• Notifications as soon as an alert concerns you.
REPORT
Every resident of the basin can report what they observe: flooding, drought, property damage, or infrastructure problems. A report must be accompanied by a photo and your location, and then confirmed by other users present on site. The reporting system works offline: you can create a report even without a network connection, and it will automatically sync as soon as you are connected.
These reports are forwarded to the OMVS authorities. Important note: a citizen report never automatically becomes an official alert. An OMVS administrator decides whether to publish it. The application does not publish any alerts on its own initiative.
GET PREPARED
• Emergency kit: essential actions to take before, during, and after a flood.
• Risk awareness modules, including quizzes.
• Chatbot: ask your questions, such as the water level at a specific location, by typing or sending a voice message, in French or Arabic.

PRIVACY
The application accesses your location to send you relevant alerts and your camera when you choose to include an image in your report. No photos are transmitted without your explicit action. OMVS Connect contains no advertising, trackers, or audience measurement tools. You can delete your account at any time from within the application.
OMVS Connect is an informational tool. It does not replace instructions from local authorities or emergency services. In case of immediate danger, contact emergency services.
