Owlbert is a study timer with an owl of the same name. He reads a book while you focus, looks up when you pause, dozes off on your breaks and cheers when you finish a focus session.
The app has a calm, dark study-desk look, with amber for focus and blue for breaks.
Start the timer and put your phone down. Owlbert rings when time is up and every reminder goes off on time, even with the app closed and the screen off.
THE TIMER
Drag the ring to set the length, like a kitchen timer. Tap minus or plus to change it by five minutes. For an exact length, tap the time and type anything from 1 to 600 minutes, or pick a preset.
Need more time? "Add 5 min" stretches the timer without starting over. After each focus session, you see what it added to your day and can start your break.
You choose how many sessions come before a long break. Breaks and the next session can start on their own.
The screen can stay on while you focus. A long press on the app icon starts a focus session right away.
TASKS
Give each task a subject, a due date and the number of focus sessions you expect it to take. Owlbert groups your list into overdue, today, this week, later and no date.
Link a task to the timer and its sessions count toward it. Or pick "Free study" and the time still counts toward your day.
REMINDERS
A reminder can repeat every day, on weekdays or on the days you choose, or ring just once. Add a note if you like.
The list shows what rings in the next 24 hours and warns you when notifications are off.
PROGRESS
You pick a daily goal when you first open Owlbert and can change it anytime in Settings.
The Progress tab shows your current streak and your study time for today, the last 7 days and all time. You also get a 14-day chart against your goal and your time per subject.
The app comes in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Chinese. You can also study with Owlbert in your browser at oowlbert.com.
