Take a new photo or choose an existing image from your gallery. Photograph the whole piece, then use a closer view of the base or backstamp when the mark is small. The app analyzes visible details and returns a likely match, the visible clues behind it, other possibilities and practical ideas for what to inspect next.

EXPLORE THE DETAILS
Review the likely match, read the visible traits, compare other possibilities and follow the suggested next steps. AI questions let you ask for clarification about the current result without leaving the report.

The scanner is designed around pottery marks, porcelain backstamps, ceramic forms, glaze, decoration and visible maker clues. It works best as a visual research companion: use its observations to decide what to photograph, record or verify next.

MADE FOR REAL-WORLD DISCOVERIES
Use Pottery Scanner for market finds, inherited ceramics, studio pottery, decorative objects and pieces already in your collection. A saved entry can become a compact reference for later reading, side-by-side comparison or discussion with another collector.

GET A CLEARER SCAN
Include a straight, well-lit view of the mark and keep reflections away from glossy glaze. Add exact letters, symbols or numbers to your notes. Keep the main subject large in the frame, avoid motion blur and add contextual details in the text field. Better source information can lead to a more useful response.

SIMPLE FROM THE FIRST LAUNCH
There is no onboarding sequence or account setup. Open the app and start from the scan screen. The paid download includes the app without advertisements or a recurring subscription. The interface includes direct access to scanning, saved items and Studio tools through its bottom navigation.

PRIVACY AND DATA HANDLING
Saved scans, favorites and notes remain in the app on your device until you erase them. Photos selected for identification are sent through the app backend to AI service providers for analysis, so an internet connection is required. The backend does not retain submitted photos. A report you choose to share leaves the app through the sharing option you select.

Scanning is limited to 30 scans per installation per UTC day. Shared-network limits and AI service availability may also affect a request. If a scan cannot be completed, try again later or use a clearer image.

USE AI RESULTS RESPONSIBLY
AI image analysis can be incomplete or wrong, especially when identifying marks are hidden, worn, altered or poorly photographed. Treat every result as a set of research leads and compare it with reliable references. Maker and date suggestions are research leads. They are not authentication, certification or valuation.
