Tremor Lab by Orthopractis helps you record standardized hand-task observations and review descriptive motion estimates. Use a supported Android camera to view both hands, follow guided tasks, inspect signal quality and retain observations locally.
LIVE BILATERAL OBSERVATION
The rear camera opens by default after launch consent and camera permission. The measurement workspace adapts to portrait and landscape with large, separately labelled anatomical left/right readings. Values recalculate from a rolling window as usable frames arrive. Record a trial when you want to retain measurements; video and timeline recording have separate controls.
TWO RECOGNITION PATHS
MediaPipe Hand Landmarker is the primary on-device engine, with up to 21 landmarks per hand. Google ML Kit Pose is a separate, coarse fallback using wrist and selected finger pose points. It needs upper-body context and is not an equivalent full-hand tracker. Engine and measurement units are identified; results from different engines must not be pooled.
MEASUREMENTS WITH EXPLANATIONS
Review frequency, relative amplitude, derivatives, spectral characteristics and recording quality. The searchable guide explains all 18 fields per hand. Exact frequency methods and rejection rules are included in Help. Unsupported frequency is withheld with a reason; bin spacing is not accuracy. Allow at least three seconds of usable tracking; longer stable segments improve resolution. Refresh rate depends on the device.
TASKS AND RECORDS
Ten guided tasks cover rest, posture, movement, tracing, pouring, loading and pinch observations. Use only safe, authorized tasks and follow qualified professional guidance when needed. Review sessions, charts and a bounded optional timeline. Record silent video or import one authorized video through the system picker for on-device analysis. Share selected CSV, JSON, Markdown or text reports using Android's share interface.
CONTROL AND PRIVACY
No Orthopractis account is required. Camera images and recognition results are processed on device. Structured saved records use app-layer encryption in private, backup-excluded storage. Private video files do not have the same additional encryption envelope. Exports go only to the destination you select and cannot be recalled. Delete records or all local app data in Settings.
Google ML Kit can send operational diagnostics and usage information to Google; Pose Detection uses Firebase Remote Config and Installations. On-device recognition does not mean all included SDKs are network-silent. Read the in-app Privacy Notice and published policy before use.
IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS
Android camera measurements are monocular, relative 2D estimates, not millimetres, depth, force or calibrated 3D tracking. Bilateral display is not a validated coordination score. Published physiological frequency context is not an app-specific normal range. Tracking quality does not describe a person's health. Camera movement, lighting, perspective and tracking errors can affect results.
Tremor Lab is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Do not use results alone for clinical or emergency decisions.
Requires Android 8.0 or later. Live recognition needs a functioning, supported camera; simultaneous video capture depends on device capability.
