VPN SERVICE USE

OwnHour uses Android's VpnService for an optional, on-device, DNS-only filter, so your website, domain, adult-content and category rules work across supported apps and browsers. This is not a general-purpose VPN. It routes only DNS requests to OwnHour's local filter. Ordinary web and app traffic is not routed through OwnHour, your location and public IP are unchanged, page content is not inspected, and traffic is never sold, redirected or used for advertising. Domain names are matched in memory and never kept as browsing history. You can deny the VpnService permission or turn web protection off at any time.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE USE

OwnHour uses Android's AccessibilityService for on-device website, domain, keyword and YouTube Safe Search blocking. While it is enabled, it receives events from a fixed list of apps: supported browsers, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, plus the Android settings, permission and package-installer screens used to remove OwnHour. It reads limited on-screen signals, such as the browser address bar, visible page text and YouTube search text, and uses them only to apply the rules you create.

AccessibilityService is used only for the blocking you configure. When a rule matches, OwnHour may show its blocking screen, leave a blocked page or feed, or replace the address of an explicitly blocked page in the same browser with your chosen safe address. Guardian protection is a separate parental-control feature: only after the device user consents and an authenticated parent or legal guardian approves may OwnHour leave its exact uninstall, app-details and Device Admin deactivation screens, until a time-limited removal grant is active. This is uninstall resistance, not absolute uninstall prevention. OwnHour does not record the screen, log keystrokes, store screen content, change unrelated device settings, or send screen data to OwnHour or third parties. Processing happens on your device in the moment. You can choose "Not now" and can disable the service in Android settings at any time.

Blocking decisions stay on your device. Crash reporting is optional and off by default.
