If you've played Sudoku and Nonograms and want a puzzle that looks different, Akari is a good next step. You place light bulbs on a grid so that every white square is lit, no bulb shines on another, and each numbered square touches exactly that many bulbs.

The rules take a minute to learn and the boards keep giving. Every Akari puzzle here is generated on your phone and has one solution you can reach by logic alone, so a square never forces a guess. When you get stuck, a hint points to the next square logic can settle, not a random reveal.

• Tap to place a bulb, long-press to mark a square you've ruled out
• Lit squares and rule conflicts highlight as you go
• Undo, a logical hint, and three grid sizes from small to large

Because the puzzles are made on the device, you never run out and you never need a connection. There's no account to set up either — open it on the train, at lunch, wherever.
