PawMesh turns your phone and a pair of Meshtastic LoRa radios into a
purpose-built tracker for the dogs you hike with. No SIM, no cloud, no
account — just the phone in your pocket and a radio on your dog's collar.
What it does
• Track up to 3 dogs at once, each on their own Meshtastic tracker node.
• See every dog's live position on an offline USGS Topo basemap. Tiles
for the area you'll be hiking can be pre-downloaded so the app works
with zero cell signal.
• Compass view: bearing, distance, altitude, and last-heard time for the
dog you're looking for — in meters or feet, your choice.
• Battery readout for each tracker so you know which collar to charge
before the next hike.
• Ping a tracker to request an immediate position fix if you need it
right now instead of waiting for the next scheduled broadcast.
## What it needs
• A Meshtastic-compatible companion radio paired to your phone over
Bluetooth LE. This is the radio you keep on yourself; it bridges the
mesh to your phone.
• One Meshtastic tracker node per dog.
• A LoRa region setting that matches local regulations (US, EU 433, EU
868, CN, JP, ANZ). Configured once during onboarding.
## Privacy
• No analytics. No ads. No third-party SDKs. No crash reporting.
• No backend, no account, no cloud sync. Dog positions never leave your
phone.
• Auto Backup is disabled — your tracker DB is never copied to Google.
• The only network traffic is downloading USGS topo tiles from
basemap.nationalmap.gov when you tap "Download" on an offline region.
