Game Modes include:
Pick-up Game: Instant play! The computer chooses a random team for you and itself and the game starts immediately.
Season Play: Pick your team name, uniform colors, and players to compete in the Backyard Basketball League. Manage the team through a basketball season for your chance to win the Championship!
We’re talking about practice! Hone those basketball skills while getting a feel for every court in practice mode! Then, it’s game time! Play a Pick-up Game or a Full Season with your favorite players.

Without having access to the source code, there are hard limitations on the experience we can create. Backyard Basketball ‘01 runs well and looks better than ever for mobile devices and creates a new installation for digital preservation within the Backyard Sports catalog that allows the next generation of fans to fall in love with the game.

I love the backyard sports franchise, but this mobile port has to be one of the worst that I've tried. It constantly crashes my more early devices, and that doesn't mean it doesn't on my later ones. It doesn't even let me shoot half of the time and I can't call a time out. The only reason I gave it two stars is probably because it was nostalgic, for the minute I could play before it crashed again.

The game as a whole works fine enough for a mobile port of a pc game, but I have a few gripes that present me to really give this a five star. Primary comeing from the hit detection. Wherever spot in the court I am, sometimes I just can't shoot the ball and if so, it takes about a few seconds which is enough to get me penalized. Sometimes what i'm trying to click on the target hoop, it just doesn't respond. Irrelevant note here, kind of would like to see you try to bring back the intro for this.

I loved the Backyard Franchise growing up, I was so excited when it started coming out to mobile. However, this game is so awful currently, many times I try to inbound the ball it won't let me or I won't be able to call a timeout. Even shooting the ball doesn't always get recognized. There's definitely somethings that I feel need to get worked out.
