About this app

Precise Volume is a fully-featured Equalizer and audio control utility. It is filled with helpful features with the goal of allowing you to customize your audio to sound exactly how you like it.

NOTE: Returning users, try turning on Legacy mode. This may get the app working for you again. Go to Settings -> Equalizer Settings -> Legacy mode

Help can be found at

This app overrides Android's default 15-25 volume steps and allows you to set a fully custom number. Other apps may give the illusion of having more volume steps, but this app actually has them.

Modern science tells us that the volume of our music can be just as important as anything else for connecting emotionally to our music. When volume is too loud or too soft for a given song, emotional connection can be lost.

But Precise Volume doesn't just give you more volume steps. It also contains tons of automation features and customization options, such as:

Fully-Featured Equalizer
- Graphic EQ is your standard (but powerful) 10-band Equalizer
- Auto EQ can automatically adjust sound for your specific headphones (compiled by jaakkopasanen - you rock, dude)
- Bass/Compressor boosts bass!
- Reverb creates a simulated environment around your head
- Virtualizer creates a highly immersive surround sound effect
- Volume Booster can be found under Graphic Eq as "post-gain"
- L/R Balance lowers the volume of the left/right channels
- Limiter boosts volume as it safeguards your audio from going above a certain level, while keeping quality

Volume Booster
- Careful with this!

- Apps Automation (activate presets when apps are opened/closed)
- Bluetooth Automation (activate presets when Bluetooth is connected/disconnected)
- USB DAC Automation (activate presets when your USB DAC is connected/disconnected)
- Headphone Jack Automation (activate presets when headphone jack is plugged/unplugged)
- Date/Time Automation (activate presets at specific dates/times, repetition options included)
- Boot Automation (activate presets when device boots)

Volume Presets
- Pre-define volume and other settings to apply later (can be used with automation, etc). Create specific presets for all of your headphones, for your car, etc.

Equalizer Presets
- Pre-define Equalizer settings for use later (can be used with automation, etc). Create specific presets for your every mood (or headphones!)

Media Locker
- Lock volume buttons to media (system-wide). No longer will you have to guess which audio stream will be adjusted

No Root Required

PRO Features
- Up to 1,000 volume steps
- Custom volume increments
- Unlimited volume presets (free users limited to 5)
- Volume System Override gives you more volume steps anywhere on your device
- Replace your phone's built-in volume popup
- Remove ads

Automation (PRO)
- Bluetooth, Apps, Headphone Jack, Date/Time, and Reboot Automation
- Tasker/Locale Plugin support

Equalizer (PRO)
- Unlock Bass/Compressor (very customizable)
- Unlock Reverb
- Unlock Virtualizer
- Unlimited Equalizer Presets (free users limited to 20)

Downloaded to make my phone quiter. Worked for a day or two, then suddenly stopped working. Uninstalled/reinstalled it, worked again for another 1-2 days, then same thing. Reinstalled again, working again probably will break soon. While "not-working" it seems to still work on music, but not on videos or apps. 3 stars because as bad as it is, I haven't found a better options out of all the other apps I've tried.

Try turning on Legacy mode. That could be why! Go to Settings -> Equalizer Settings -> Legacy mode If that doesn't work, a feature called "Better Audio Detection" might. That works basically perfectly with my own personal Pixel 7 Pro. Go to Settings -> Advanced -> Better Audio Detection. Edit: Updated for clarity

Not What I Expected because the volume steps are still too coarse*. Has a decent equalizer that integrates well with Y/T music and some other apps that I have. Most other EQs have no effect at all. I thought I was getting "precise volume" finer volume step graduation. Apparently not. The volume controls could use about double the resolution. UPDATE: The higher res is in the premium version. Also, there are sophisticated volume profiles that are user calibrated in all versions. Revised rating! +

Precise Volume 2.0 (EQ & More) really works great and has dozens of sound settings for any Android device. It has better sound quality than most other volume control, volume booster EQ apps. We the tested it with YouTube, YouTube Music, the IHeartRadio app, the TuneIn app and the built-in FM radio app on my phone and they have improved sound. Just scrolling down the settings it even has game mode sound settings too. Without any annoying pop up ads.
