About this game

Wildlife Ranger Phonics turns sounds into an adventure across a wildlife park.

Every animal in the park teaches one sound. Ant the Monkey teaches the "a" in "ant". Pip the Squirrel teaches the "p" in "pat". Meet an animal, and it asks for words containing its sound — your ranger types them in, letter by letter, on a keyboard that only offers the sounds they have learned so far.

Befriend every animal in a world and you can face the grumpy monster at the gate. Find enough words before the timer runs out, the gate swings open, and the ranger walks on into the next world.

WHAT YOUR CHILD PRACTISES:

- Hearing a sound inside a whole word, not just naming letters
- Blending sounds into words and segmenting words back into sounds
- Recognising that one spelling can make different sounds — the "oo" in "book" is not the "oo" in "moon", and each has its own animal
- Reading and typing words under gentle time pressure at the gates

17 worlds follow the order phonics is taught in school, beginning with s, a, t, p, i, n and building through every common letter-sound pattern to a final battle at Phonics Tracker Castle.
