I've tried using this on several negatives and I'm having a hard time getting the photo to line up correctly. What it looks like in the Preview window is NOT what it winds up looking like in the final photo. It cuts heads off, it does something with the perspective that makes people look crooked. I even mounted the negative and my phone and tried, and it still messed things up. I can't find anything in the settings to turn off auto-cropping. Also, it charged me for a year before my 3 day trial was up. Buyer beware!!!!

As written in Google Play, this is an in-app purchase. In order to have access to all the features the app has to offer, you would need to subscribe. We offer different subscriptions for different needs. Please reach out to support@photomyne.com so we can assist on how to get the best scanning results.

I just downloaded the free version and, although I love Photomyne, this app is a huge disappointment. First, the scan quality is poor. Although it says voice activation is an option, that's apparently not on the free version. Then, after only 3 scans, it stopped converting the image from negative to positive and simply shows a photo of the negative. There's no way I'll spend $72 a year if this is what I can expect.

Allen - seems to me that you can use some technical assistance. Please reach out to support@photomyne.com.
All the issues you mentioned in this review are indeed features of the app that should work for you. You can use the voice activation in the free mode. We don’t stop converting the negatives etc.
We look forward to assisting you.

No focus option when trying to take your picture of the negative is my biggest problem. I love the manual crop tool with the magnification viewfinder. The auto crop is mostly garbage. Even when you can see the holes it can't figure out the appropriate crop ratio. I am using the app on the limited version because I don't take enough photos to make the subscription worth it. I wish it would tell you how many shots you get before you're locked out. I would have been more precise with my captures

Hold the negative 2 inches (5 cm) away from the computer screen in order not to have the image pixelated. The camera needs to see the side holes to crop properly. Please try again and let us know how it goes. Please reach out to support@photomyne.com so we can assist on how to get the best scanning results.
