Every other journaling app hands you a blank page. Linger hands you a programme.
Mind training for a brain that only logs faults.
Humans notice and remember bad things more than good ones. That's not a personality flaw — it's a well-documented feature of human attention. Linger doesn't try to talk you out of it. It gives it somewhere else to point.
FIVE TRACKS, ALWAYS IN THIS ORDER
1. Noticing — Log what you registered. No feeling required.
2. Causation — Add one clause: why did this happen.
3. Presence — Savouring in real time. Unlocks the Presence catch: a one-tap, about-30-second savouring ring, no notification required.
4. The Critic — Direct, careful work on the inner critic.
5. Gratitude — Optional from the start. Skip it any time; nothing later in the programme depends on it.
Each track only makes sense after the one before it. The programme ends somewhere you could not have started — and gratitude, if it shows up, shows up last, never first.
ONE SESSION A DAY, 60 TO 90 SECONDS
Open the app, or tap the widget. Read one short card. Do one small thing. Tap once to say how it landed. Close the app. If nothing comes to mind that day, say so — that's still a completed session. There's no wrong answer.
NOTHING RESETS. NO GUILT.
There's no counter that goes down and no calendar rendered with holes in it. Return after any gap and the app shows exactly this, and nothing else: "Session 14. Let's go."
WHAT THIS IS NOT
Linger isn't a gratitude app, and it won't ask you to feel something you don't. It isn't a mood tracker, and it isn't therapy. It's built on techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and self-compassion research.
No account. No ads. Everything you write stays on your device until you decide to export or delete it — both are one tap, in Settings.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
A general wellness app. Not treatment for any condition.
Linger is not a medical device. It's designed for general wellness use, not to give medical advice, and using it is not a substitute for professional care.
If you're working through a mental health concern, we encourage you to consult a licensed healthcare professional.
