About this app

EMAware is a specialized HIPAA-compliant application developed by NeuroUX, a leading remote research company. This app is designed exclusively for study participants in brain health research by top universities and institutes globally.

Important Note:
This app is exclusively for registered study participants. It is not intended for general public use. Researchers are responsible for obtaining all necessary approvals, including IRB clearance and informed consent.

What EMAware Does:
EMAware enables researchers to collect high-frequency, real-world data through three main components:
1) Cognitive Tests
2) Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) Surveys

All EMA questionnaires, cognitive tests, and study protocols implemented in EMAware are designed and provided by the research teams conducting the studies. EMAware implements these designs and makes them available to the participants as per the research requirements.

Cognitive Tests and Evaluated Domains:
EMAware includes validated cognitive tests that evaluate various domains:
4) Quick Tap: An inhibition control test (go/no-go) where participants tap targets and ignore distractors.
- Evaluate: Attention, Executive Function, Psychomotor Speed
5) Guess the Emotion: A social cognition test where participants identify facial expressions and their intensity.
- Evaluates: Emotion & Social Cognition

Note: All data collected from cognitive tests is available to the research team.

Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) Surveys:
- Customizable questionnaires for real-time data collection
- MicroEMA functionality for brief, frequent assessments
- Flexible reminder system to optimize participant adherence

Data Ownership and Access:
All data collected through this app by participants is available to the research teams conducting the studies. The research teams own this data and are responsible for its use by their research protocols and ethical guidelines.

Compensation Tracking:
Some studies compensate participants for each session they complete. In those studies, EMAware provides a compensation tracker that:
- Displays earned compensation after each completed session
- Shows the total amount earned so far in the study

Important: Not all studies offer compensation. Each study’s protocol determines the presence and amount of compensation.
- EMAware does not handle or process any payments. All compensation is managed externally by the research team.

Data Security:
EMAware is HIPAA compliant, ensuring the highest data security and privacy standards.
