Users with their own server can fully enjoy private chatting service using VoceChat App. It comes with individual and group chats, with text, image and file messages supported. Features like adding reactions, replies and edits to messages, pinning messages in Channels and saving important messages for later reference are also included. Your chatting data will be completely saved on your own servers, thus owned by you.

Simple, nothing fancy and fairly easy to deploy combined with a reverse proxy on a nas. For a small group of people this is great. The app desperately needs a dark mode.

it says a free self-hosted version should work up to 20 users. Nothing works. Trying to send a chat message kicks you out of the server. Rubbish

Definitely lightweight, not sure why privacy policy on this app says data is shared. Also this chat app really needs dark mode
