Most tile calculators divide the room area by the tile size. Tile does not sit on the floor that way, which is how you end up with a spare box or two short.
This one counts the tile plus its grout joint, because that is what occupies the floor. On 12" tile with a 1/4" joint the difference is about 4%. On mosaics it is closer to 20%.

THE PART OTHER CALCULATORS SKIP
Start tight against one wall and whatever is left over lands as a cut at the far wall. If that piece comes out at an inch it looks wrong, and it breaks while you are cutting it.
You find out before you start: how wide that last piece lands, and what centring the layout would give you instead. On a wall it knows the top course dies under the cabinets, so it will not warn you about a cut nobody is ever going to see.
WALL TILE, FLOOR TILE, PLANK
Switch to plank or LVT and the grout joint, thinset and grout disappear, because a floating floor uses none of them. The cut list stays.

What’s new
Your settings now actually change the estimate. Grout type, tile thickness, minimum cut and wall gap all feed into the tile count, grout weight and setting-out advice, as the settings screen always said they would.
