About this app

Access an entire bookshelf of rock climbing, bouldering, and backcountry skiing guidebooks on your Android device, even beyond the reach of cell phone coverage. rakkup reinvents the outdoor guidebook for the smartphone era.

We've partnered with Beacon Guidebooks, Wolverine Publishing, and other authors and publishers around the world to bring you rich guidebooks complete with color photos and topo drawings.

Browse climbs and ski descents on a map or in the list format of your choice, filter and search in seconds, then navigate using your phone's GPS with a single tap. The app navigates you through the trail system to your climb, turn by turn, and tracks your backcountry snow adventures with offline topo maps and slope angle shading.

Awesome tool for any climber. The GPS is invaluable for getting to far-away crags from the trailhead. It isn't always SUPER accurate, but it is close enough to where it will DEF help get you to the crag you're looking for. Occasionally there are issues with the app, but support is VERY fast at responding to get them remedied. Lots of guide books available for major crags both in and outside the US, excellent photos, great reviews, ratings, etc. And it's really nice to NOT have to carry a guide book.

Perhaps their trial version is showing 5% of what I expected????? Zero instruction. "Trail Maps" took me to a Google earth map of our entire planet. That was from inside the guide I was in. I'm not skiing in Africa. Disappointing results to say the least. After numerous attempts I did find lines drawn on the top map for on descent option with a diamond rating on each line. There are perhaps 100 lines on that ridge and this app showed me one.

Very disappointing. There's so much potential for digital climbing guides, but this app is just way too buggy to be useful. Using the "back" button typically causes the app to lock up or crash, which makes finding routes very difficult. It's also extremely difficult to find route descriptions - I found them once, after 30 minutes of looking, but then the app crashed and I can't find them again. Unintuitive UI. Maybe the devs could make a FAQ or video on how to use the app?
