Wish it wouldn't reset navigation every time I switch apps or lock my phone. Also, why doesn't the tick feature work at all? Click on pitches to tick, select everything, hit next and then save and it takes you right back to the last screen. Navigation feature is definitely my favorite part. Also, it shuts down randomly a lot. If these bugs were fixed it would be great.
Great idea, just waiting for more guidebooks to be published on this app from the Canadian Rockies. Also am I missing it, or is there no search function for guidebooks in the store? Just a scroll function seems silly.
Bought this mainly for the trail navigation feature for Joshua Tree. That is a helpful feature, but using the app is a frustrating experience. Main usability complaints: -App resets to the main menu every time the screen turns off or I switch apps. Have to navigate through the areas & subareas again every time I pull it out to check the route description. This doesn't happen on the MP app. -Navigation kept zooming out all the way, so I would have to zoom in again each time to make sure I was on trail, unless I kept the screen on (which eats up battery life)
So far I've really enjoyed the app. Having so many photos available for the routes of an area is awesome. The ability to zoom in and around on photos to see the detail of a climb is great. The map feature is another really great thing. What better way of finding a crag than by looking at it on a satellite view. Super easy to navigate to crags. No more getting lost. Definitely the best widespread app available. There are loads of guidebooks available for so many areas. Super nice low cost way of getting the info you need for all the climbing trips you want to make. As a developer that has used it to author my own guidebook and this is for those of you that are looking to do the same. The interface for doing so is super great. Makes things a snap!
Initially I was suspicious, all the digital guidebooks I had seen before were clunky, hard-to-navigate translations of the superior print product. They were digital guidebooks, and the concept didn't work. Rakkup is thankfully different. It's a guidebook app. A new product, built with innovative ideas and features, that not only provides a functional alternative to print books, but also compliments them. It picks up where modern print guidebooks have left off in exciting new ways.
Great for climbers and authors, a few bugs. I use this from both sides, editing a guid and using it at the crag. On my Galaxy S6 active, I can only exit the app with the home screen button or by force closing it. The app occasionally freezes when scrolling through routes. The belay views, interactive photos, and map/directions make it much better than other, free climbing topo apps. As a guide maker, the tools have a bit of a learning curve but responsive help and very slick once you're familiar with it. Fix the bugs/crashes and it is a 5 star app.
Welcome to rakkup version 9, which adds support for Ice Climbing guidebooks. We've also included stability improvements and bug fixes, as we do with every new release.
