How do you get a ball to the bottom of a clock tower? You turn the tower around it.
Gimbalt Tower is a one-finger descent game drawn in bold Bauhaus shapes: red, yellow and blue blocks, black stripes, big circles. The questions below cover everything in it.
Q: What do I actually do?
A: Drag left or right. Every tier of the tower slides sideways, and the ball keeps bouncing in the middle. Line a gap up under the ball and it drops to the next tier. Keep going until it lands in the bell at the base.
Q: What is the catch?
A: The tiers are geared. Each one carries a small badge with its ratio. A ×2 tier moves twice as far as your finger, a ×½ tier moves half as far, and a −1 tier runs backwards. Lining up one gap also moves every tier below it, so the good move is the one that leaves the next tier safe too.
Q: What makes me lose?
A: Striped black teeth are jammed. Bounce onto one and the run stops. Coloured teeth are safe to bounce on.
Q: Is there a way through a jam?
A: Yes. Fall through three gaps in a row without bouncing and the ball goes into a plunge. The next tier it hits shatters, jammed or not, and pays bonus points.
Q: How many levels are there?
A: Three towers, Dawn, Noon and Dusk Works, each with twelve hours on a clock dial, so 36 fixed descents. Later hours and towers bring in half, one-and-a-half and reverse ratios, and AUTO tiers that turn on their own.
Q: How is a level scored?
A: Every gap passed scores points, and chained drops score more each time. Finish an hour to earn up to three chimes. Chimes open the Noon and Dusk towers.
Q: Is there an endless mode?
A: Night Shift is a 420-tier tower that gets tighter the deeper you go. Your best depth is kept on the dial.
Q: Anything to collect?
A: Six ball designs sit on the Ball Rack: Signal, Target, Half Moon, Checker, Sunburst and Orbit. Some unlock with chimes, some with Night Shift depth.
Q: Can I turn things down?
A: Settings has switches for Sound, Haptics and Reduce motion. Reduce motion stops screen shake and background drift and keeps the essential feedback.
Q: Is there a tutorial?
A: The first hour shows you with a moving arrow. After that you're on your own.
