HOW IT WORKS

Relay uses Bluetooth to connect nearby phones directly. When you send a message, it doesn't need the internet — it travels from device to device until it reaches the person you're writing to.

Think of it like passing a note through a crowd, except it's encrypted and automatic.

WHEN YOU NEED IT

PRIVACY BY DESIGN

Relay doesn't ask for your phone number, email, or any personal information. Your identity is a cryptographic key generated on your device — not an account on someone's server.

- End-to-end encrypted communication using the Noise Protocol (XX pattern)
- No central servers store or route your messages
- No tracking, no ads, no data collection
- Your messages live on your device, nowhere else
- Add contacts by scanning QR codes in person — trust is built face to face

WHAT RELAY IS NOT

Relay is not a replacement for WhatsApp or Telegram when you have good internet. It's not instant messaging — it's resilient messaging. Messages may take minutes, hours, or even days to arrive depending on how many people around you use Relay.

Relay is honest about this. You'll always see where your message is in its journey: queued, forwarding, delivered.

We call it eventual messaging — because your message will get there, carried by people.

Relay is built on proven cryptographic standards (Curve25519, ChaCha20-Poly1305, SHA-256) and designed with a clear protocol stack documented in our public whitepaper.
