About this app

Share your own Android phone with your child for a short, supervised session. TapCub: Kids Mode lets you choose installed apps, set a session time, and start a simple kids launcher.

For a few minutes of drawing, playing, or passing time together, decide which apps to offer before handing over your phone.

INCLUDED IN TAPCUB FREE
- Create one child profile with a name and avatar.
- Search your installed apps and choose up to three.
- Choose a supported session duration: 10, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Available options depend on your phone's capabilities.
- Start Kids Mode yourself and wait for activation to finish before handing over your phone.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE PERMISSION
This app uses Accessibility Services (Android AccessibilityService API) for parental-control app protection during Kids Mode.

A SIMPLE SPACE FOR THEIR APPS
Large app tiles help your child find the apps you selected. The launcher shows the remaining session time. TapCub checks whether protection is ready and provides setup guidance when something needs attention.

When time is up, Kids Mode stays restricted instead of automatically returning to normal phone access. The timer is for the current session; TapCub does not provide daily screen-time reports or recurring schedules.

PARENT CONTROL TO FINISH
To end a session through TapCub, hold the parent control for five seconds, then use Android biometric or device-credential authentication. Canceling or failing authentication does not end the session.

SET UP ON YOUR PHONE
Your child profile and settings are stored locally on your device. No TapCub account is needed. TapCub is designed for sharing the phone in your hand, rather than remotely managing a child's separate device.

USE WITH SUPERVISION
TapCub uses best-effort Android restrictions to redirect away from unapproved apps. It is not a fully isolated phone environment: some notifications, system screens, or ways out may remain accessible. Protection varies by phone and setup, so stay nearby and check it before each handoff.

AccessibilityService API use
TapCub uses Android’s AccessibilityService API to provide app protection during Kids Mode. After you grant permission, it accesses app-transition events and app package identifiers to detect which app is open. During an active Kids Mode session, it returns your child to TapCub when an unapproved app is opened or the session’s time limit has expired.
This accessibility information is processed on your device and is not transmitted off the device or shared with third parties. TapCub does not use this API to read screen text, messages, notification contents, passwords, or keystrokes.

You can disable TapCub’s accessibility access in Android Settings at any time. App protection requires this access. Protection has device-dependent limitations; system controls and emergency functions remain available.

You choose apps already installed on your phone; TapCub does not supply games or content. Approving an app does not make its content child-safe. Its ads, purchases, external content, and network activity may remain available. Local TapCub settings do not make other apps work offline.
