Setting the temperature has not improved from original app. Dial made to look like a thermostat is quirky. Try to change from 108 to 115, and it jumps to 135. Then get failure message trying to go back down. What is needed is a simple up/down box with arrow keys. There is no need for a "thermostat" that only goes to specific temperatures, not a range of temperatures.

Last updated in 2023. What company thinks apps do not need to be updated regularly? I'll tell you, a company that does not use the app themselves. When trigger water recirculation, there is a "Control Failed" message which is just a false negative as circulation starts as expected. The app also doesn't work with home automation for integration with Google Home. I bought this water heater thinking it would improve our quality of life, it hasn't. I'll give Navien a try in the near future.

The app can be difficult to connect to the water heater initially but seems to connect after the first connection. My big frustration is the user interface. It doesn't present the actual options available to the user and offers controls/options that aren't available. I spoke with Rinnai tech support and was told "that's the way it's supposed to work." Rinnai should improve the app. As is, it will mislead and frustrate most users.
