Review from Shadoe Haze
Awesome Works great and exactly as advertised. I find this MUCH more convenient than the Roku remote and I always have my phone on me instead of remembering where I put the remote I just whip the phone out, hot the short cut and instantly I'm connected.
First I'll start with a review of Roku, itself... I absolutely adore it!! A million times better then my local cable company! If you're sick of paying a high bill for very few channels you should definitely consider switching! Now for the app... I have had zero problems with it. It does exactly what I would want it to do. I love how I can use the app as a remote control. It comes in super handy when typing something in. Love everything about it!
As one of the early adopters of roku, I've been a zealot for years. One feature I really liked was the remote control in the app. But suddenly, the in app remote no longer works to sign in to channels. As a result, I no longer listen to Pandora or Sirius. Using the keyboard to hunt and peck a user name and password is agonizingly painful and if you have the wrong password the whole journey begins again.
I love Absolutely Everything about this app except for Anyone that has the app being able to connect to my Roku device without having a password. Any random person can connect to my device. We also have multiple roku devices in the house and my movies have been cut off many times do to others connecting to my device on accident. If you could add an update where it requires a password to connect to each device that would be amazing and I would definitely give a five star rating!
Changed to Sprint Hotspot for internet access. Works great. But the Roku App now won't recognize my device & when I input manually says I need the "entire IP address. I AM putting in the entire address. And yes it's the same as the hotspot except for the 4th number.
My problem with this remote app is that it doesn't connect automatically to the tv. You have to turn on the tv manually for the app to pick up the tv then you can use it. Its not like peel smart where the app automatically picks up the tv whether on OR off. Change that problem and JUST MAYBE I might give it a full 5 star rating.
Any phone or tablet can control the ROKU even if the original remote was lost or broken. Just be sure if you're upgrading your router or setting up new WIFI link for any reason to program the ROKU using the old WIFI link before you shut that one down.
