The track is full of "apples" and "gifts". Eating apples can lengthen your tail, and getting gifts requires cutting your tail short. But you can only pass the level successfully if you get enough gifts. So, before you pass the finish line at full speed, you need to eat as many apples as possible to help yourself get enough gifts.
