About this app

Ryuu™ is an independent streaming studio creating original vertical anime designed natively for your phone. Watch internet-born characters and creator-led worlds come to life in full-screen 9:16 - the way they were meant to be seen.

Stream free pilot episodes across our slate of original sci-fi and fantasy series today.

MOBILE STORYTELLING, MADE FOR 9:16

No cropping. No awkward horizontal video squeezed onto a vertical screen. Ryuu is animated from the very first sketch for your phone.

- Mobile-only by design: Ryuu™ is built exclusively for your phone and tablet. Traditional animation is designed for a distant TV screen across the room; our vertical camera moves, intimate close-ups, and character framing are crafted specifically to be experienced in the palm of your hand - not stretched across a desktop monitor with black bars.
- Full-screen mobile immersion: every scene, camera move, and character design is created natively for vertical viewing.
- Serialized episodes: stories are released in high-impact 2.5-3 minute cinematic chapters - paced like dynamic visual manga for fast, immersive mobile watching.
- A graphic-novel feel: the format works like an episodic visual chapter book - intimate, deliberate, and built to pull you into the world quickly.
- Uninterrupted viewing: our core streaming experience is built to stay free from mid-roll commercial ad interruptions.

HUMAN CRAFT, NO AI SHORTCUTS

Ryuu stands for human-made animation. Every series on Ryuu™ is created by real animators, writers, voice actors, and directors putting care and craft into every season.

We support independent, internet-native creators with production financing and direct revenue sharing so artists can build original, creator-owned worlds - not just one-off content.

That means you get stories with a point of view, a visual identity, and a real creative team behind them.

Ratings and reviews

Currently the only show on the app is Granite Waves. There are 4 free episodes which are a few min each, the other 3 eps require a subscription. Nowhere on the playstore does it say this is subscription based service. If you want to pay there is only quarterly or yearly options not monthly. We WANT to support indie creators but charging so much upfront when you have such little content available currently isn't right. I believe this app has great potential but it's not worth the cost right now

cannot believe I paid a yearly subscription to this. app is only available on my phone or tablet. episodes are like 2 secs long. there's only one thing you can watch and with how short the episodes are you get through the entire available library in a couple hrs. Subtitles are baked in which is annoying. I wish I would get a refund.

The series might be good but the app is hot garbage. If you enter your dob, then press next and then press back, the app will start hallucinating and thinking your dob is you e-mail.This episode is legendary, wanna upgrade? please, manualy close the app, type the address, and navigate your way to our subscription WOW. Can't hide the name of the episode I'm watching, no subtitles on/of options, no subtitles language. 10 minutes on this app and I hate it.
