About this app

Lamassu keeps your passwords where they belong: on your phone, encrypted, and under your control. No account. No sign-up. No servers.

Most password managers keep your vault in the cloud. Lamassu does not: no server to breach, no company to trust, nothing to leak. Your data exists in exactly one place — your device.

START IN SECONDS

No account to create, and no lock screen standing between you and the app. Your vault is encrypted by your device's hardware keystore from the first entry you save, so a copied database file is useless anywhere else.

Add a PIN, fingerprint or face unlock whenever you want — the app offers it once and never blocks you.

WHAT YOU CAN STORE

• Logins for apps and websites — email or phone, password, and notes
• Bank cards, Wi-Fi keys, software licences
• Secure notes for anything that doesn't fit a form
• Categories, search and sorting, so nothing gets lost

FILL PASSWORDS ANYWHERE

Lamassu works as an Android autofill service. Sign in to any app and your saved account appears above the keyboard — no copying, no switching apps.

• Works in browsers too, including Chrome, in compatibility mode
• Suggestions appear inside the keyboard row on Android 11 and newer
• Save new logins straight from the sign-up screen without leaving it
• A locked vault offers only an "Unlock" card — never your data

PASSWORD CHECKUP

One screen tells you which passwords actually need attention: found in public leak lists, reused across accounts, or too easy to guess.

Each account is listed under its worst problem, and the report exists only while the screen is open — your passwords are never copied out of the encrypted vault.

REAL SECURITY, NOT MARKETING

• AES-256 encryption for the vault (SQLCipher)
• Your database key is wrapped twice: by your PIN and by your device's hardware keystore
• Your PIN is never stored — only a value that can verify it and cannot reveal it, computed inside the keystore so a stolen copy can't be brute-forced
• Unlock with fingerprint or face, backed by the Android Keystore
• Auto-lock the moment you leave the app
• Clipboard clears itself after you paste
• Screenshots and screen recording blocked inside the app
• Repeated wrong PINs trigger a lockout that gets longer each time
• If anything goes wrong with the vault, the app says so and deletes nothing without asking you first

BACKUPS YOU ACTUALLY OWN

Nothing is in the cloud, so a backup is your safety net:

• Backups are encrypted on your device with a password only you know
• Save to a file anywhere on your phone, or to Google Drive
• Print a recovery card with a QR code so you can restore even years later
• The app tells you plainly when your backup is out of date, and by how much
• Restoring only adds. Nothing is overwritten, nothing is deleted, entries you already have are skipped, and anything ambiguous is kept rather than dropped

If you lose your backup password, no one can decrypt the file — not even us. That is the point.

COMING FROM ANOTHER MANAGER

Import a CSV export from your old manager or browser — Chrome, Bitwarden, KeePass and others are recognized automatically. It works out the separator, encoding and columns itself, so accented and Arabic entries arrive intact.

ALSO INSIDE

• Password generator with adjustable length and character sets
• Light and dark themes, or follow your device setting
• Works fully offline — airplane mode changes nothing

HONEST NOTES

Lamassu is free and supported by ads. Ads never see your vault; they run completely separately from your data. The app needs no internet permission for anything except showing them.

There is no cloud sync between devices. That is a deliberate trade-off: sync requires a server, and a server is exactly what we refuse to build. Use a backup file to move to a new phone.

Named after the lamassu — the winged guardian that stood at the gates of Assyrian palaces.
