Screen time apps politely tell you how many hours you lost. ScrollSmack
interrupts you while you are losing them.
Pick the apps that eat your evenings. Set how long you're allowed to stay in
one continuously — 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes. Arm it. Then forget about it.
The moment you cross your limit, ScrollSmack takes over the screen with a roast
from one of eight personas, and it does not go away when you tap back. To get
out, you have to type the phrase "I am wasting my time" exactly. That friction
is the entire point: it takes just long enough for you to notice what you were
doing.
THE PERSONAS
The Voice. The Court Partner. The Petty Ex. The Grandma. The Disappointed Mom.
The Gym Bro. The Nature Narrator. The Sassy Best Friend. Forty lines between
them, and the app never runs the same persona twice in a row.
HOW IT WORKS
• Choose which apps get watched — nothing else is tracked
• The timer measures CONTINUOUS use, not daily totals. Step away for half a
minute and it pauses; step away longer and it resets
• A live gauge on the home screen shows the current session against your limit
• Arm and disarm whenever you like. You are not locked into anything
COMPLETELY OFFLINE
ScrollSmack has no network permission. No accounts, no sign-in, no analytics,
no ads, no data collection of any kind. Your app list and your limit never
leave your phone, because there is nowhere for them to go.
WHAT IT ASKS FOR AND WHY
• Usage access — to know which app is on screen and for how long
• Display over other apps — to draw the interruption over the app you're in
• Notifications — Android requires a visible notification while a timer runs
• Battery optimization exemption (optional but recommended) — otherwise
Android may kill the timer before you ever reach your limit
WHAT IT IS NOT
This is not a blocker and not a parental control. It cannot stop you. It just
makes sure you cannot pretend you didn't notice.
Tough-love screen time: cross your limit, get roasted until you type it out.
