if the ringer is off and the phone is on silent.

Find My Phone listens for you and sounds a loud, sweeping alarm so you can
walk straight to it. No account. No sign-in. Nothing recorded.

WHY THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT

Most finder apps have the same one-star review: "it stopped working by
itself." That is almost never bad detection. It is the phone's battery
manager quietly killing the app in the background, so nothing happens when
you finally need it.

This app has an entire screen devoted to that problem. Reliability shows you
a real check-in log — how many times the listener has reported in, the worst
gap between check-ins, how many times it had to restart — and gives you the
exact settings buttons for your phone's manufacturer. It is evidence, not a
promise. And none of it is behind a paywall, because it is not a feature: it
is whether the product works at all.

HEARS A CLAP, NOT YOUR TELEVISION

Cheap detectors trigger on anything loud, so people turn them off. This one
analyses the shape of a sound, not just the volume.

A clap has to pass four independent tests — a sharp attack, a flat broadband
spectrum, high-frequency brightness, low tonality — and then still be fading
a fraction of a second later. A shout or a slamming door fails that last
test. A whistle is confirmed by a pitch that holds steady for a quarter of a
second, which is something speech never does.

A live meter shows you the sound level, the room's noise floor and exactly
where the trigger threshold sits, so if it is not hearing you, you can see
why and move one slider.

ANTI-THEFT

• Movement alarm — sounds if the phone is picked up and carried
• Pocket alarm — sounds if it is lifted out of a pocket or bag
• Charger alarm — sounds if it is unplugged. For cafés and airports
• SIM watch — alerts you if the SIM is swapped
• Intruder photo — optional front-camera shot after failed unlocks

Every alarm gives you a head start to disarm it first, because an alarm that
catches you out is an alarm you switch off.

LAST SEEN

Keeps a private trail of where the phone has been, stored on the phone
itself. Open the last position in your maps app, or send it to whoever is
helping you look. Nothing is uploaded to us — there is no server to upload
it to.

WHAT IT DOES WITH YOUR DATA

• Audio is analysed a fraction of a second at a time, in memory, and thrown
away. Nothing is recorded and nothing is written to disk.
• Your location trail stays in this app's private storage and is left out of
cloud backup.
• No account, no sign-up, no analytics.
• The app shows one banner advert, which is the only part that uses the
internet.

PERMISSIONS, AND WHY

Microphone — to hear your clap or whistle. Required.
Location — only to record where the phone was last seen, and only while a
visible notification says the guard is running. This app never requests
background location.
Camera — only for the optional intruder photo. Off by default.
Phone state — only to notice a SIM change. Never used to identify you.
Device admin — only to be told that an unlock attempt failed, for the
intruder photo. It cannot wipe, lock or manage your device, it is off by
default, and you can revoke it inside the app.
