Most Wi-Fi tools tell you half the story. An analyzer shows you which channel is busy but cannot tell you what speed you are actually getting. A speed test gives you one number and then throws it away. Prism does both, and it remembers, because that is the only way to answer the question that matters: is your internet as fast as you are paying for, and if not, where is it going wrong?
CHANNEL ANALYZER
See every network in range, which channel it sits on, and how wide it is. The 2.4 GHz view shows the overlap that causes most home Wi-Fi problems, so you can pick a channel that is genuinely clear rather than one that only looks clear in a bar chart. Signal strength is graded consistently everywhere it appears.
SPEED TEST THAT KEEPS ITS RESULTS
Measure download, upload, latency and jitter, then keep the result. Enter the speed your plan is sold at and Prism tracks what you actually receive against it over time. A single slow test tells you nothing. Thirty of them tell you whether the problem is your router, your neighbours, or your provider. Export the whole history as CSV whenever you want it.
COVERAGE MAP
A phone has no reliable indoor position source, so Prism does not pretend to have one. Walk to a spot, tap where you are on a plan of your home, and Prism records the signal there. Between the points it interpolates a heatmap, so you can see the dead corner rather than guess at it.
DEVICES ON YOUR NETWORK
Sweep the local network and see what is connected: address, hostname, vendor where it can be identified, and which common ports are answering. Useful when you want to know what that unfamiliar device actually is.
DATA USAGE BY APP
See which apps are moving the most data over Wi-Fi and mobile. This screen needs Android's Usage Access, which you grant in Settings; Prism explains what it reads before sending you there, and the rest of the app works without it.
SECURITY CHECK
A plain-language read on the network you are joined to: the encryption in use, whether it is open, and what that means in practice.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
There is no account, no sign-in and no server of ours. Every measurement Prism takes is stored on your phone and nowhere else. A record of when your connection is weak is a record of when you are at home, which is exactly why it is not worth uploading anywhere. Speed tests are run against public measurement endpoints operated by Cloudflare and Hetzner, which see your IP address in the same way any website does.

Android requires location permission for any app that reads the Wi-Fi scan list, because the set of networks around you can place you on a map. Prism asks for it for that reason only. It never requests your position from the location provider, never stores coordinates, and declares no background location access.
