What is Toki Pona?

Toki Pona is a language created by the Canadian linguist and translator Sonja Lang and it was first published on the internet in 2001.

It is a minimalist language, composed of only 14 phonemes and 120 words (currently there are some other unofficial words).

The language focuses on simple concepts and elements that are relatively universal. Inspired by Taoist philosophy, Toki Pona is not intended to be an auxiliary language, but a "yoga for the mind", aiming to express maximum meaning with minimum complexity.

Ratings and reviews

Simple, intuitive, informative. Dark mode by default (though there is no light mode). Very "pona". Unlike the screenshots here, the app's info is not outdated (e.g. akesi does not mean non-cute animal anymore, and the app is up to date with that). However, the app lacks any nimi ku suli; the only words that are listed are those in the original 120. That's the only reason I give four stars. ilo ni li pona tawa mi. Edit: nasa still has the outdated translation.

Over all it is helps alot and has useful tools. That said I'm using a Samsung zfold and the menu bar get in the way of the bottom so what ever is at the bottom cannot be read. Maybe if more room was given to scroll up would allow what's at the bottom to be read.

Excellent little app. I particularly like the trilingual aspect, so when you read something in one of the languages you can check what it looks like in the other two.
