About this game

Shadow Cells is a tactical 8x8 board game where two sides compete: Light and Shadow. Each player controls 8 pieces, and every move changes not only the position of the pieces, but also the board itself.

On each turn, a player moves one piece to an adjacent cell. After the piece leaves its old cell, that cell becomes a shadow cell and stays blocked for 2 turns. Pieces cannot move onto active shadow cells, so every move creates new risks, paths, and traps.

Plan your movement, control open space, and surround your opponent with temporary shadows. If a piece has no legal move, it is removed from the board.

Main features:

8x8 strategy board;
two sides: Light and Shadow;
8 pieces per side;
adjacent-cell movement;
two-turn shadow cells;
trap and removal mechanic;
Turn Planner with step-by-step move hints;
Capture Ledger with match events;
Rules Prism with clear rule cards;
Match Console with useful stats;
save and load match state;
reset and start a fresh match.

Shadow Cells is made for players who enjoy short tactical duels, abstract board games, and grid-based strategy. Win by leaving your rival with no legal moves or by removing all rival pieces from the board.
A tactical 8x8 game of light, shadow cells, and smart traps.
