About this app

Sifdroid is a personal finance app that never asks for your bank login. Budget, accounts, investments and physical assets all live in one place, even across different currencies, so the net worth at the top of the screen counts all of it.

You type your spending in yourself. That's more work than linking a bank, and for the first week it feels like it. After that you have a set of numbers you actually recognize, because you were there when each one went in.

Everything stays on your phone. No account to make, no cloud, nothing collected. No analytics, no ad network, no crash reporting. Sifdroid goes online for three things only: looking up market prices, exchange rates, and asking Google Play whether you've bought Pro.

WHY SIFDROID

• Nothing to link, and no credentials to hand over
• Your data never leaves the phone. I don't run a server, so there's nowhere for it to go.
• No ad or analytics SDKs bundled in

• Works offline. Only price and exchange rate lookups need a connection.

DOES IT CONNECT TO MY BANK?

No, and it never will. There's no Open Banking integration, no screen scraping, and no way for Sifdroid to read your balances. It keeps a record of money you've already moved on your own bank, broker or exchange, and it can't pay, trade or transfer anything on your behalf. That's a decision, not a feature I haven't got to yet. There's no login to hand over and nothing to reconnect. There's also nothing stopping you forgetting to log the coffee, and then the total is wrong until you fix it.

ONE BIT OF SETUP

Stock prices come from Finnhub, on a free key you create yourself. The app links you straight to the signup and you paste the key in once. Crypto prices and exchange rates need no key at all.

PRIVACY

What’s new

Accounts and assets can now have their own currency, and totals show in your main currency. Transfers work between currencies, and you can make your own asset categories.

Savings goals and photos are gone. Money in a goal goes back to its account. If you marked a goal as spent, add it again as an expense.
