Polar Alignment helps you dial in the polar alignment of an equatorial telescope mount by showing exactly where the pole guide star should sit on your polar-scope reticle. In the Northern Hemisphere it tracks Polaris; in the Southern Hemisphere it follows Sigma Octantis.
HOW IT WORKS
Enter your latitude and longitude with the date and time, and every position is computed right on your device with no connection needed. You get the clock position, hour angle, local sidereal time, and the pole distance (separation), so you always know where to park the guide star on the reticle.
RETICLE OPTIONS
Switch between a generic clock reticle and a 36'-44' scale AccuAlign-style reticle, flip to an inverted view to match a diagonal or a straight-through optic, and turn on Night mode for a dim red display that protects your dark adaptation at the eyepiece.
TRUE NORTH HELP
Type in your local magnetic declination and the app corrects a compass reading toward true north, so aiming the mount base becomes far less of a guess before you ever look through the polar scope.
SETUP WIZARD
A five-step wizard walks you through the physical routine in order: level the tripod, set the latitude scale, aim at the celestial pole, centre the guide star, then fine-tune and lock the mount.
SITES AND LOG
Save your observing sites by name with their coordinates and recall them in a tap, and keep an alignment log of your sessions so you can compare how each night went.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Coordinates can be typed by hand, so device GPS is not required to get a reading. This is a clock-and-reticle aid for manual polar alignment: it does not do plate-solving, camera live-view alignment, automatic star detection, or GoTo mount control. The app shows AdMob banner ads, with an optional rewarded-ad unlock for a feature that lasts 24 hours.
