Simple VO2 Max Test estimates your cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2 max) at home in about six minutes. No gym, no lab, no treadmill.
HOW IT WORKS
Prop your phone about three metres away, wear any Bluetooth heart rate monitor, and step in place to a metronome for three minutes. Your phone camera verifies every knee lift, so the measured workload is real. Your heart rate response and one minute recovery feed a published, laboratory validated equation that produces your estimate.
BUILT ON PUBLISHED SCIENCE
The protocol and equation come from a peer reviewed study of the 3 minute incremental step in place test, validated against laboratory oxygen uptake testing in 205 adults (Lee et al. 2021, PubMed 34682494). The app always shows the estimate interval, and results are labelled when the workload fell short of protocol.
WHAT YOU GET
- A VO2 max estimate with its honest error interval
- Your percentile and fitness band against your own age and sex group
- A full breakdown: group average, the score every band requires, fitness age
- A trend across repeated tests, the most reliable fitness signal
- Voice guidance for the whole test, plus live form feedback on screen
WORKS WITH
Any Bluetooth heart rate device using the standard heart rate profile: chest straps, armbands, and watches that broadcast heart rate. A chest strap or armband gives the most accurate result.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Everything stays on your device. No account, no analytics, no ads, no data collection. Camera frames are processed on the phone and never stored or uploaded.
NOTE
This app provides a fitness estimate for informational purposes and is not a medical device. If you have a cardiac condition, chest pain, or a doctor has advised against vigorous exercise, do not take the test.
