Sky Now is a place to share what's happening overhead, right now — a fiery sunset, a rainbow after the rain, a full moon rising, the aurora putting on a show. Snap a photo, tag what you saw, and it shows up on the map for people nearby to see while it's still happening.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Post a sky moment — sunsets, sunrises, rainbows, cloud formations, aurora, lightning, full moons, meteor showers, lunar and solar eclipses, storms, or anything else worth looking up for.
• See it on the map — every recent sighting near you shows up as a pin, so you can tell at a glance what's happening across town or across the state.
• Get notified when it's happening live — when multiple nearby users confirm the same kind of sighting, Sky Now sends a real-time alert so you don't miss it.
• Check My Sky Today — moon phase, visible planets, aurora forecast, and tonight's sunset quality, all in one place.
• Get a heads-up before predictable events — full moons, meteor showers, and eclipses, so you can plan to actually go outside and look.
• Comment and reply on sightings from your community, with notifications when someone responds.
• Earn badges for posting across different regions or spotting rare phenomena — just a fun record of what you've seen, not a pressure tactic.
• Search for and follow other users by username.
BUILT AROUND PRIVACY
• No email required. Sign up with just a username and password.
• Your exact location is never sent anywhere. Before a post is even uploaded, your coordinates are blurred by roughly a third of a mile — enough to place your pin on the map without ever pinpointing your home or workplace. Photos also have location metadata stripped automatically.
• Every photo is automatically screened to confirm it actually shows a sky or nature scene before it's posted. Captions and comments are screened too.
• You're always in control: edit or delete any post or comment, block anyone, and report content that shouldn't be there.
• Delete your entire account — and everything tied to it — anytime, from Settings. It's immediate and permanent.
