Smackcheck is an end-to-end encrypted messenger from Germany — with
a simple mechanism against spam and a higher quality of communication: Each message costs a small amount.
WHY MESSAGES COST SOMETHING
Mass spam only works because an email costs nothing. As soon as each message costs a few cents, the model collapses. Those who write a few important messages pay almost nothing. Those who want to send millions can't afford it.
No filter that has to guess what's desired. Instead, a hurdle that is barely noticeable for genuine senders and unacceptable for automated sending.
IF YOUR RESPECTIVE ISN'T YET A MEMBER
Smackcheck is new, and your inbox will be empty at first. You can invite someone via their username; the first message will be deducted from your initial balance. For starters, people with whom you already exchange confidential information are suitable — tax documents, contracts, health-related questions.
YOUR DATA BELONGS TO YOU
- End-to-end encryption: Only you and the recipient can read the messages
- The subject line is also encrypted
- Application and messages are hosted on servers in Germany, subject to German law
- No advertising, no sharing with third parties for advertising purposes
- Data export and account deletion directly in the app, without contacting us
FOR CONFIDENTIAL COMMUNICATION
- Delivery log as a PDF, with timestamp and SHA-256 checksum
- Timestamps are generated on the server, not on the sender's device
- Subject line for each conversation, so even longer exchanges remain traceable
