Word Edit is a DOCX document editor, Word document reader and TXT text editor for Android. Create reports, write study notes, update meeting minutes and organize your documents from your phone.
Work offline with files stored on your device. Edit supported DOCX and TXT documents, preview text from legacy DOC files, and share your work through Android’s share menu.
Create and edit documents
•
Start a new DOCX document or plain-text TXT file.
•
Open supported files from your device or a folder you choose.
•
Select, copy, cut and paste text with familiar editing controls.
•
Undo and redo changes as you write.
Format your DOCX files
Use bold, italic, underline, font sizes, headings and paragraph alignment. Add bulleted or numbered lists to organize ideas, assignments and work notes. Formatting tools apply to supported DOCX content; TXT files stay plain text.
Find, replace and count
Find text within an open document and replace individual matches or multiple matches. Check word and character counts while preparing reports, notes or drafts.
Save and keep separate copies
Save your changes or use Save As to create a separate document. Optional recovery autosave keeps a draft on your device while you edit. Unsaved-change prompts help you decide whether to save, discard or continue writing.
Organize your files
• Search accessible documents by filename.
• Filter the list by DOC, DOCX or TXT.
• Sort files by name, modified date, last opened or size.
• Rename, copy, move, delete and share documents where storage access allows.
• Return to recently opened files without browsing again.
• Clear recent history without deleting your documents.
Local document editing
Word Edit processes document contents on your device. No account or sign-in is required, and files are not uploaded for editing. You choose when to share a document and which app receives it.
Document format support
DOCX: Create, read, edit and save documents with supported text and basic formatting.
TXT: Create, read, edit and save plain-text files, including Unicode text.
DOC: Read extracted text from supported legacy Word files and create a separate DOCX text copy. Binary DOC creation and saving are not supported.
Complex DOCX files containing unsupported elements, such as images, tables, links or advanced formatting, open as read-only text previews. You can explicitly create a simplified DOCX copy to edit the text. That copy omits unsupported elements and original formatting; the original file remains unchanged. Password-protected documents are not supported. File operations depend on the selected storage provider’s permissions.
