love it, only thing i would ask is, that if you stop casting the app stays in the background and does not open itself up. (the app was in background when casting started) i want to build my own nest hub like device and am very close to that thanks to your app. but i'd really love it if the app would stay "invisible"

I have the app installed on an old Chinese tablet PC and it runs fine on Android 4.1 with only 512MB of RAM. The app repurposes what was otherwise a redundant piece of kit as a useful device, I can now watch movies from my laptop on the big screen though the HDMI out on the tablet. It doesn't offer all the functionality of a proper Chromecast but does let you cast from a Chrome Browser tab so as long as whatever you want to cast will work in a browser tab in Chrome it can be sent to the app. Casting tabs is quite resource intensive though so you might find the PC slows down while casting. But I have tried in from a low spec Core2duo laptop and it was an acceptable quality video. The only problem I have found with the app is the the HWdecoding causes the app to crash after a few minute when enabled. But it does say it is experimental so perhaps this will be fixed in a future version.

Brilliant app. 5 Stars on concept alone. This will basically turn your old phone with a 3.5mm headphone jack into a (now discontinued) Chrome cast Audio device. Keeping old devices usable is good for the environment (and my wallet). It is a little quirky overall (be sure to stop casting from an individual app when switching to a new one) and it can't be added to Google Home Speaker Groups which is not a a big deal at all. While playing audio the screen cannot be 'manually' powered off- however as long as the CastReviever app is running it will power the screen on automatically upon connection and then the screen will power off on its own with music still playing. Tested on a old device running Android 4.0 as well as one running Android 7.0. I couldn't get Sticher to cast on any device which is a bit of a bummer but I can confirm the Google Play Music app, the YouTube Music app and even the Amazon Music app all work just fine. You can even pause the playback on the Receiving phone with the Chromecast controls built into newer versions of Android and control the volume. You won't be able to control the casted media's volume from the casting phone however. The app is also great for House Guests and Parties: while there is no there is no "Guest Mode PIN" function while the Receiver phone was on my Guest WiFi my guests also on that Network could cast to it. In a way a phone with several audio apps and this app is better than a typical Chromcast Audio as users that don't have WiFi access (or don't have a phone) can use the Receiver phone "console" style to skip songs from the lockscreen from music apps like normal. Bought the premium version to help support the development of the app.
