MaskAlarm — CPAP Mask-Off Alarm
CPAP therapy only works while the mask is on. But masks slip off in the night — and you sleep right through it, losing hours of treatment without ever knowing. MaskAlarm watches for you. Your phone's camera takes a small picture every couple of minutes and an AI vision model checks one thing: is your CPAP mask still on? The moment it comes off, MaskAlarm wakes you — usually within a minute — so a lost night of therapy doesn't cost you the next day.
Built for CPAP and BiPAP users who lose mask seal in their sleep without realizing it. No wearables, no extra hardware — just your phone on a nightstand.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Prop your phone at the head of the bed and point the back camera at your pillow. The aim guide helps you line it up.
2. MaskAlarm arms itself only after it clearly sees you settled with the mask on — so getting comfortable won't trigger it.
3. Once armed, it watches about every 2 minutes. A single blurry frame won't wake you: the alarm sounds only after repeated checks confirm the mask is really off.
4. If the mask stays off, an alarm wakes you in under 30 seconds to put it back on. If it's on all night, you'll never hear a sound.
KEY FEATURES
- AI mask-off detection — knows mask on, mask off, or nobody in bed
- Wakes you in under 30 seconds
- Over 98% detection accuracy in recommended lighting
- Confirms before it sounds, so a quick mask adjustment won't wake you
- Caregiver alerts — notify a loved one when the alarm fires, by text or on a second phone
- Get up freely — when the bed is empty it disarms automatically, then re-arms when you return with the mask on
- Snooze the alarm for 5 or 10 minutes; it auto-cancels the moment your mask is back on
- Sleep analysis — a nightly summary plus history and trends to track your CPAP compliance
- Tuned for a dark bedroom — a faint night-light is all it needs
CAREGIVER ALERTS
Watching over someone who sleeps in another room? MaskAlarm can reach a caregiver the moment the mask-off alarm fires — by text (US phone numbers) or through the app on a second phone. Each caregiver is controlled on their own: turn any of them on or off, choose whether the alarm also sounds on the sleeper's phone (silence it for someone in the room, keep it on for a caregiver farther away), and send a test alert anytime to confirm it's working.
SLEEP ANALYSIS
MaskAlarm turns every night into a clear picture of your CPAP use. Each morning you get a summary — mask-on time, how often the mask came off, and time out of bed — plus history and trends so you can catch problems early.
PRIVACY FIRST
Your pictures are used only to detect your mask. They are never stored — not in the cloud and not on your device — they are encrypted in transit and deleted as they are processed. Images are never sold or used for advertising. You will be asked to consent before monitoring begins.
WHO IT'S FOR
Anyone on CPAP or BiPAP whose mask comes off at night, and the partners and caregivers who worry about it. If your data shows you're not getting your hours, MaskAlarm helps you find out why — and fix it in real time.
GOOD TO KNOW
- Keep the app open with the screen on and the phone plugged in overnight (the screen dims while monitoring).
- Detection needs a little ambient light and can't see your mask in total darkness.
