About this app

Sons Of Smokey - SOS app is uniting public land users of all types and volunteers looking to help restore public land for future generations!

Use the SOS app to identify and clean illegal dump locations on public land. Geo tag and photograph abandoned vehicles, dump sites, etc. and our real-time map is updated.

Scout out these marked locations for clean up projects and mark them as cleaned up when you're done.

How it works:
- Download the app and sign in with your Google account
- Open the SOS app while using public lands
- If you see dumped debris, select the large "+" button in the middle of the screen, provide a description of what it is and take a few photos
- You will see the trash icon appear within the app
- If you can clean up a trash location, do so and tap the 'Clean Up' to provide some new photos and describe what you did

The app doesn't have an offline mode, which limits its usefulness. I cleaned up some trash at a campsite and tried to add it by lat long when I got home, but there isn't an option for that. Additionally, it only allows dragging the point marker a certain distance from your current location.

Amazing app for a great cause! A addition I'd like to see is some means of moderated commenting so users can network clean up days and notify one another when a marked trash site has been cleaned up. Maybe even a automatic notification that goes to the person who marked a site when it gets cleaned up. I think this would help motivate users to not just mark trash sites but actually go out and clean up what they and others find. Happy wheelin, Mason

Only works if you have data, unfortunately, I only get signal in about 20% of the forest. Need to be able to drop a pin while offline and let it upload once there is signal again.
