Black Belt Reader helps primary schools build independent reading habits and makes each child's reading journey visible.
Children read real, physical books and spend a minute or two on a shared class device recording the pages they've read and answering a few short questions about the story. Most of the time is spent reading, not on a screen. Children work through nine belts (White Belt to Black Belt), collecting stickers for their bookmark along the way. New belts are presented by the school, so moving up becomes a moment worth celebrating.
A school account is required. Black Belt Reader is provided to children by their school. Children sign in with their Black Belt Reader bookmark. The app cannot be bought or used individually and will not work without a school subscription.
Every child deserves to become a Black Belt Reader
