Practise speaking English, Mandarin Chinese, or Japanese with an AI tutor that listens, responds, and corrects you in real time. SpeakLocal uses Google's Gemma AI model running directly on your phone to hold natural conversations across 25 real-world scenarios — coffee shops, job interviews, airport check-in, doctor visits, business meetings, first dates, and more. Every turn comes with a pronunciation score and one specific tip for what to fix next. A built-in spaced-repetition vocabulary vault remembers the words you struggled with and brings them back at the right moment for long-term retention.

Unlike ELSA, Speak, and TalkPal — which all upload your voice recordings to their servers for processing — SpeakLocal processes everything locally. Your microphone audio never leaves the device. Open Settings → Privacy Center to see, byte for byte, exactly what's stored on your phone and what's been sent anywhere else (spoiler: 0 bytes). When you delete the app, every conversation, every vocabulary card, every practice session goes with it. No retention, no server-side copy, no "we may use your data to improve our models" small print.
