About this app

PortDroid is a Network Analysis Application that helps Network Administrators, Penetration Testers and Hackers with several useful networking tools including:
• Port Scanning
• Identifying Devices on Local Network
• Ping
• Traceroute
• Wake-On-Lan (WoL)
• DNS Lookup
• Reverse IP Lookup
• Whois Lookup

Port scanner - Scans and IP for open TCP ports, optionally it will use Banner Grabbing on with each port in order to gain more information or discover a web service. When a service is found on a port external applications will be offered to deal with certain protocols (ssh, telnet, http, https, ftp, smb etc.)

Local Network Information - Find out who's on your wifi network. This will identify all devices on the same network and from here you can probe further and open the port scanner on any of the found devices.

Ping – Check if a host is online and how fast it responds

Traceroute - Perform a traceroute and geo-locate IPs to view on map

Wake-On-Lan - Wake compatible WOL devices.

DNS Lookup - Lookup the DNS records for a website

Reverse IP Lookup - Find out websites that are hosted on an IP address

Whois Lookup - Find out the registration information for a domain

Permissions Required:
• Internet - Needed for remote connections (ping, port scan etc)
• Wifi Connections - Needed to analyse wifi connections
• Network Connections - Needed to analyse non-wifi network connections
• In-App Purchases - To upgrade to pro version to receive additional features

This app is highly configurable and in active development, so feature requests and bug reports are appreciated!

App works as advertised, with no unneeded permissions. It has an option to show manufacturer based on MAC addresses, but it doesn't seem to be implemented. The first-run welcome splash screen pops up on every launch of the app, but that may just be a quirk of my device. I would like to see some more robust features in future updates (packet capture, or saving scanned addresses to a local database.) All in all, a nice lightweight utility that doesn't invade my privacy.

This is the first time I have had malware put on my phone via the Google Play Store. It is supposed to scan ports and provide security. You know the saying "If it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't trustworthy"? I uninstalled PortDroid but found it later "hidden" when another real security app found but could not remove it. I toggled the button to give it no permissions and the malware toggled it back as through it was a needed System app. I had to do a hard factory reset. BEWARE.

Quick and easy way to scan for open ports on your network. PortDroid also allows me to ping a device. I use this app often when I set up a Raspberry Pi as a server or just concerned about open ports lying around in my devices.
